Shaping Skilled Graduates in Sustainable Agriculture

Each year, BED’s Agroecology program welcomes up to 60 young men and women from underprivileged backgrounds in Cambodia, offering free, high-quality training in sustainable agriculture.

The 12-month program combines hands-on farm work, theoretical lessons, and practical workshops, along with essential soft skills development.

Students also complete a 4-month internship with local farms or agribusiness partners in Siem Reap, giving them real-world experience and ensuring they are job-ready upon graduation.

Skills lead to jobs when training matches labour market demand. Inclusive access helps vulnerable youth build sustainable futures.

Deliver targeted vocational training in Agroecology & Food Processing, aligned with labour market needs and focused on the most vulnerable youth.

To bridge the gap between rural vulnerability and the demands of the modern agricultural sector, our training center operates as a fully integrated technical hub. Currently in the process of official recognition as a Higher Diploma under the Ministry of Labour and TVET, our pedagogy focuses on operational autonomy. We combine rigorous environmental standards with market realities to ensure our students graduate not just as farmers, but as skilled professionals and future entrepreneurs. Our methodology is built upon five foundational pillars.

Market-Driven Training

Programs are continuously adapted to labor market needs and developed in close collaboration with agricultural employers and industry partners.

Practical & Technical Skills

Students gain real-world experience through hands-on training in Agricultural Crop Production, Animal Production, and Food Processing, building farm management expertise.

Inclusive Access

Priority given to vulnerable youth, women, minorities, and youth with disabilities—all from disadvantaged households—ensuring at least 50% women in the program.

Career Guidance & Employment Pathways

Students receive career counselling, job readiness training, internships, and support to access immediate employment or agricultural entrepreneurship opportunities.

Holistic Support

Nutrition, healthcare, social support, life skills, and individual follow-up help students overcome barriers to learning and successfully transition into professional life.

Thanks to my vocational training in agroecology at Bayon School, I gained the skills needed to support local farmers in my community.
Today, as a commune agricultural officer, I share my knowledge and provide daily guidance to help farmers adopt organic and ecological practices. My goal is to develop the local agricultural sector, increase production, create more jobs, and, most importantly, protect our planet. This training has empowered me to contribute to a sustainable future for my community.
