Our Action on the Ground

Improving Nutrition and Food Security

This grassroots initiative addresses food insecurity challenges that affect children’s education and long-term well-being. A pilot community vegetable garden project was officially established at the Bayon preschool to promote healthy eating habits and practical environmental learning. By creating a sustainable school ecosystem, this action secures the daily lives and well-being of vulnerable children from the very start of their education.

Our Key Action Levers

To supply structures and educate families, the intervention relies on:

=

School gardens where local parent farmers supply fresh vegetables..

=

School canteens ensuring the preparation and distribution of healthy meals.

=

Nutrition education and the WASH program (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene).

=

Agroecology training provided to families, teachers, and students.

Food insecurity and nutritional deficiencies in rural areas directly affect children’s health, school attendance, and learning capacity.

Children and youth thrive and study more effectively when their nutrition, health, and environment are supported collectively alongside school.

The implementation of pilot school farms and canteens supplies structures directly with fresh, organic produce, while introducing hands-on environmental education and essential hygiene standards.

Our Impact

2 pilot school farms and 2 canteens successfully established and operational.

Improved nutrition and food security for vulnerable children.

Scaling up the model by expanding the green school garden initiative to several partner public primary schools.
